Struggles of being overweight are different for different people. And in case of 28-year-old Anisha, being overweight, induced this fear in her of being mocked by everyone in her new college. She knew she had to change her lifestyle in order to change her body. So, after gathering all her courage and will-power, she decided to take up this journey and lost 30 kilos. Today she is a nutritionist. Read her inspiring journey... Name: Anisha V Ranjan Occupation: Nutritionist Age: 28 years Highest weight recorded: 99 kilos Weight lost: 30 kilos Duration it took me to lose weight: 6 months The turning point: People are usually excited about joining a new college but in my case, it was not so. I was afraid to join college because of the way I looked. I was scared of leg pulling and teasing, which I knew will definitely come my way if I do not lose weight. My breakfast: Besan cheela /two egg with yolk and brown bread/veg sandwich. My lunch: Two chapattis with any green/seasonal veggie and salad. My dinner: Grilled chicken/chicken boiled soup/salad. I indulge in: I love momos and chicken tikka so my cheat days are usually about eating these two. My workout: I am not a gym person so my workout includes dancing and jogging. Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Grilled chicken because it is rich in protein and fish. How do I stay motivated? Looking at my old pictures keeps me motivated. I do not want to go back to my old self. How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? Coming to this stage took a lot of effort but I can say it was all worth it. I am loving the new me so I know I won’t lose focus now.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? Finding the clothes of your size and choice is really difficult when you are overweight.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I just want to get better with time.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? For me getting up early was a big NO. But since I started this journey, I have got into the habit of waking up early. And I must admit that I am loving it.

What was the lowest point for you? I was never hurt by anybody’s comment on my body shape until it came from my boyfriend. Though later he became my motivation to be fit - he is my husband now.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: You just need a little will power and motivation to achieve any goal in life. Once you start your journey and see the results, no one can stop you.
