Name: Namrata Verma Occupation: Fitness entrepreneur Age: 37 years Highest weight recorded: 78kgs Weight lost: 20kgs Duration it took me to lose weight: 2 years The turning point: Going about my day to day activities became really difficult because of my excess weight. In addition to this, my lower back started paining terribly and that was when I decided that I needed to get fit, at least for the sake of my health. My breakfast: Poha, idli, oats and eggs My lunch: Salad, lots of veggies and either 1 chapati or a small portion of rice My dinner: A big bowl of soup I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I have a big sweet tooth, so I reserve my cheat days for sweets only. My workout: I workout for almost 2 hours every day, an hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. I combine Zumba and functional training. Low-calorie recipes I swear by: I love Besan ka cheela. Fitness secrets I unveiled: Detox water. My favourites are jeera water, methi water and lemon water. How do I stay motivated? Self-love is the most important thing in the world and it is the only motivating factor that can keep you on the right track. You need to love yourself enough to accept yourself the way you are, no matter whatever size or shape you are in. How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? When you finally begin to see positive results, you get addicted to working out every single day. You don’t ever lose focus after it. What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? I was not happy with my life because of being overweight. Leading a life devoid of any happiness was the most difficult part of being overweight. What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to be a stronger and fitter version of myself.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? I have completely stopped eating carbs after 6 in the evening.

What was the lowest point for you? I absolutely love dancing but because of all the excess weight, I was not able to dance on my brother’s and sister’s wedding. It was a major set back in my life.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: There is absolutely no shortcut to losing weight. You just have to keep going and trust your journey.
