Pregnancy and delivery bring about a lot of changes in a woman's body. Hormonal changes, weight gain are very common and it is extremely difficult to shed it all away. While it takes time to shed baby fat, hearing comments about your appearance can make you go off track. With Priyanshi Agarwal, who just delivered a baby, a similar thing happened. People left nasty comments and said she would never lose the extra weight. With some effort and changes in her lifestyle, she was able to prove everybody wrong and got back to her pre-pregnancy weight! To know how she did it, read her transformation journey:

Name: Priyanshi Agrawal Occupation: Software Engineer Age: 26 Highest weight recorded: 70 kilos Weight lost: 15 kilos Duration it took me to lose weight: 6 months The turning point: My child was born through a cesarean delivery. People around me were all very demotivating and were so adamant that I would not be able to lose weight post delivery. It was very frustrating to constantly keep hearing this. So, instead of getting all negative, I took this as a challenge and lost 15 kilograms in some months. The best part is, I am now 7 kilos lesser than I was pre-pregnancy!
When I was overweight, I had my own share of troubles. I had to buy dresses in XL size! Every time I had to go shopping, it was a struggle and I felt so disappointed because of my weight. My breakfast: I used to have oats for breakfast but sometimes I switch it with Poha, Upma or even Parathas. I made the big change in my breakfast diet and started having oats regularly. My lunch: I make sure I eat well in the afternoon. I have 2 chapatis, a bowl of daal and a serving of green veggies. I have a small serving of rice as well, which I love eating. My dinner: I skip having daal at night and have 2 chapatis with stir-fried veggies.
Whenever I eat out or have a cheat meal (such as golgappas or pasta), I make sure to balance it out the next day with my meals! My workout: I started running regularly. I switch it up with brisk walking and rope skipping exercises too. Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Oats are so filling yet so yummy! You can always experiment and change the flavours, according to your liking, Fitness secrets I unveiled: All you need to do is make one little change in your lifestyle. Maintaining discipline in your diet along with daily exercise can do wonders for your body. How do I stay motivated? Again, discipline is the key. Ever since I started working on my weight loss mission, I started weighing myself every single day and maintaining it in my diary. My husband also played a great part in helping me. He is my pillar of strength. He complimented me every day which motivated me. How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? Whenever I feel low, I look back at my old photos and the oversized clothes which I used to wear and realize I do not want to get back to that phase again. I always wanted to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am glad I was able to do that. What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? For me, the most difficult part is to look at yourself in the mirror and smile. You begin to realize what an unhealthy lifestyle does to your body. Health complications also take up a toll. The most painful thing for me was not being able to play or carry my baby in my arms for long. I did not have the stamina needed for that and suffered from constant back pain. I cried for days. What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? A healthier and fitter version of myself.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? Firstly, I started walking and working out daily. I also made sure to have my dinner before 7 p.m. and said no to junk food.

What was the lowest point for you? One day I remember, I attended a wedding when everybody was shocked to see me in my heavier avatar and they all explicitly talked about how fat I had become. I could not sleep well that day and it was so sad to hear such statements.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: If you decide to achieve something with all your heart, you can do it. One just needs to have patience, discipline and self-confidence.
