Imagine that you have found the perfect dress for an occasion, only to realise that it is not available in your size. For 23-year-old Madhuri, not being able to fit into even XXL size had turned out to be the biggest nightmare of her life.

Apart from not being able to wear what she wanted, being overweight had also messed up her body.
It was the day her weighing scale showed 90 kilos when she decided to turn around her life. Read her inspiring weight loss story. Name: Madhuri Anamdas Age: 23 years Highest weight recorded: 90 kgs Weight lost: 14 kgs Duration it took me to lose weight: 11 months The turning point: It was really heartbreaking when I was not able to fit into XL or XXL size. In fact, I was not able to wear any clothes of my liking because they were never available in my size. My breakfast: I start my day with a hot cup of coffee. I prefer having freshly-made South Indian breakfast like idly, dosa, upma, and poha. I make it a point to have at least one tablespoon of ghee (clarified butter) in all my meals, every day. My lunch: My lunch is usually rice with daal, vegetable curry and a bowl of curd. My dinner: My dinner is pretty much the same as my lunch. I eat rice twice a day with any vegetable curry along with sambhar/rasam and a bowl of curd. I indulge in: I love gorging on Chinese food, Indian chaat and pasta. My workout: I work out almost 5-6 days a week. I do a mix of Zumba, yoga, kickboxing and dancing. Weight loss: This girl lost weight by eating ONLY ‘ghar ka khana’! Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Poha, tapioca pearls (sabudana) khichdi and ragi dosa. Fitness secrets I unveiled: You need to figure out the exercise regime that suits your body type. In fact, I have been trying to lose weight ever since my school days and tried various diets but nothing worked for me. Ultimately, I decided to eat the homemade food that my parents always fed me. Weight loss: This girl lost weight by eating ONLY ‘ghar ka khana’! How do I stay motivated? For me, there are plenty of sources that keep me motivated. I get really motivated when people compliment me, when I fit into the dress of my choice and when I try any new form of workout. How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? I see the photographs of actresses and their fitness videos, which keeps me focused. I prefer working out in a group so that I stay energetic by seeing other people around me. What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? There were plenty. Some of them include getting mocked by people, facing several health issues and getting really exhausted very soon.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to feel amazing whenever I look in the mirror.

What are the lifestyle changes you made ? I completely changed my lifestyle. I starting eating homemade food more and cut down on the consumption of junk food completely. I have realised that when your stomach is happy and satisfied, you don’t crave for junk food.

What was the lowest point for you? When the weighing scale showed 90 kilos, I was really shattered. That was the point I realised that I needed to do something about my weight. I had started looking bad in Indian wear and gowns. This whole thing really shook me.
