Losing weight is a monumental task and who knows it better than someone who has gone through a tremendous amount of body shaming. When 20-year-old Kalyan Krishna realised that he had started looking older than his age and his clothes have stopped fitting, he took this as his motivation to lose weight. Read on to know his journey that he started from a massive 137 kilograms.

Name: Kalyan Krishna Occupation: Student Age:20 years Highest weight recorded:137 kgs Weight lost: 50kgs Duration it took me to lose weight:10 months The turning point: I had started looking older than my age and my clothes were getting tighter. Additionally, I had become really lethargic as my physical health was in shambles. My breakfast: 5 boiled eggs, one banana and 4 dates. My lunch: 4 boiled eggs, some boiled vegetables, 2 chapatis with clarified butter (ghee) and any seasonal fruit. My dinner: 1-litre fresh milk or boiled chicken. I indulge in: I have reserved my weekends to eat anything and everything that I crave for. Being a true Hyderabadi, I love gorging on beef biryani. My workout: I workout 3-4 times a week. My workout involves High-intensity weight training (HIIT). Occasionally, I also go for mountain climbing or sprint drills. Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Unprocessed, raw organic food serves as the best low-calorie dish. Fitness secrets I unveiled: I have realised that there is no shortcut to fitness as we have to put in a lot of hard work in obtaining a particular level of fitness. It does not matter whether it is shedding extra kilos or gaining muscle mass, everything requires a lot of effort. How do I stay motivated? You have to be your own motivation when you are on a quest to lose weight. Also, you need to surround yourself with people who constantly motivate you to reach your goal. How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? We all are humans after all and we tend to get demotivated, every now and then, especially when you get stuck in a weight-loss plateau. This is the time when you need to remember the reason you first started and keep your goal in mind. What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? When you are overweight, every single thing that you do becomes a struggle. You fight a battle daily as you do not get the clothes you want, you are constantly body shamed and your confidence hits a new low every day.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I intend to take up modelling on a part-time basis, so I would love to attain a good physique.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? I stuck to a strict diet for the last year and started prioritising my sleep. I also made it a point to never miss my training sessions.

What was the lowest point for you? When I weighed a massive 137 kilos, I was rejected by a really pretty girl, which was really heartbreaking.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: I have realised that no matter what people say about your nature being the most important aspect in life, ultimately your looks do matter and I have learnt it the hard way. Secondly and more importantly, fitness is not supposed to be treated as a hobby or a recreational activity but should be an integral part of the lifestyle.
