A welding and fabrication mechanic, Kofi Annan, whose arts works were stolen by thieves, has taken his life in a bizarre manner at Fetteh Kakraba near Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The 43-year-old man became a casualty of theft and was said to have broken down because he did not know where he could find cash and the materials to prepare fresh window and doors for his client at Awutu Bawjiase, and ended his life as a result.
His wife, Afua Bembem said Annan was found dead with a sponge hanged on his neck inside their room at Fetteh Kakraba in the Gomoa East District on Wednesday.
According to her, she left the husband home early that day for work but the husband did not show any sign that he was in distress.
She said even though Annan told her he could not trace the windows and doors that were stolen by the thieves, she least expected he could take his own life.
“I arrived home late to discover his body dangling and I could not believe he can take his life,” she indicated and noted that she was confused as to suspect any foul play or consider it to be a suicide.
She said the incident was reported to police who conveyed the body to morgue, as they conduct investigations into the incident.
The Assembly man for Buduburam/Fetteh Kakraba Elector Area, Lot Arthur decried the increasing crime rate in the area and said the residents were getting tired of always conveying dead bodies there.
