The chiefs of Obuasi have expressed strong support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), offering their blessings for his victory in the upcoming elections.
This endorsement, attributed to his demonstrated humility and dedication, was conveyed during a campaign visit to the area.
Representing the chiefs of the Adansi Traditional Council, the Kontihene of Dompoase, Nana Keteke Appenteng II, spoke on behalf of the community, stating that they had symbolically “handed the steer” to Dr. Bawumia.
Nana Appenteng praised Dr. Bawumia’s hard work and the respectful approach he consistently demonstrates, qualities that he said have won the hearts of many Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia, in response, reiterated his pledge to ensure fair benefits for chiefs and communities in mining areas, promising that revenues from local mineral resources would support their development.
This promise was made during a joint stakeholder engagement in Obuasi East and West, key stops on his campaign tour of the region.
