2nd February 2026
Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have reached an agreement with Swiss club FC Basel to sign Ghanaian centre-back Jonas Adjetey in a deal believed to be worth around €10 million.
The 22-year-old defender is currently undergoing a medical ahead of the move, with the transfer expected to be completed once routine checks are finalised.
Adjetey, who has been one of Basel’s standout performers, has impressed with his composure on the ball, physical presence and tactical awareness, qualities that have attracted interest from several European clubs. Wolfsburg, however, have moved decisively to secure his signature as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
The transfer represents a significant step in the young defender’s career, offering him the opportunity to test himself in Germany’s top flight, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
For Wolfsburg, the signing underlines the club’s intent to invest in emerging talent with long-term potential, while for Adjetey, it marks a major milestone as he prepares to continue his development on a bigger stage.
