A 35-year-old woman, Faustina Ackom, is fighting for her life after allegedly being shot by her husband, Wahibu Bukari, at Anum in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday during a heated argument after Bukari, 41, accused his wife of infidelity.
Faustina, a trader and mother of four, reportedly attempted to flee when Bukari allegedly opened fire, hitting her in the inner left arm and breast.
She was rushed by neighbours to the St. Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, where she is currently receiving treatment.
An eyewitness, Lydia Yeboah, said residents heard the victim screaming for help around 1:00 am and rushed to her aid.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident. Residents suspect he may be hiding in Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso.
Police say investigations are ongoing. A team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Command has visited the hospital to assess the victim’s condition and gather information.
