Women all over the world were given massive recognition and appraisal for their contribution to economic development, especially in Africa, at the African Agribusiness Incubation Network Conference and Expo held in Dakar, Senegal during the International Women's Day celebration.
The Conference which was aimed at creating jobs and wealth for the youth and women through Agribusiness Incubation saw over two hundred women and youth participating from several countries around the world.
Massive recognition was given to women during the International Women's Day for their inspirational roles in tailoring the development of the continent along the lines of Agribusiness.
Under the theme 'Youth engagement in Agribusiness trade and investment', the CEO of AAIN -Dr. Alex Ariho lauded women for being the backbone of Agribusiness on the continent and encouraged more youth and women to venture into Agribusiness as it is the gateway to wealth creation and poverty alleviation on the continent.
Several women agrirepreneurs including the President of the East Africa Farmer Federation, Madam Nsimadala Elizabeth and Senior Coordinator of NEPAD, Madam Fati N'zi-Hassane gave inspirational and motivational speeches at the conference to encourage the youth and policy makers to consider Agribusiness as a window of hope.
While the day was given tremendous international recognition with several women marking it with demonstrations in Europe, the AAIN Conference gave it a different look in Africa considering how women are being empowered everyday to fight for their rights.
The men amongst the gathering gave a standing ovation to women while the women sung beautiful and inspirational songs to mark the day.
