Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah will depart Columbus Crew when his contract expires at the end of December. The Ohio-based club decided against activating the extra-year option in his contract following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Although his time at Columbus Crew is coming to an end, the 27-year-old remains eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Process, which could offer him the opportunity to continue his career within the league.
Columbus Crew expressed their gratitude for Yeboah's contributions, posting on X, "Forever a Champion. Thank you, Yaw, for your time in Black & Gold. We wish you the best in your next chapter."
Yeboah joined the Crew in 2022 from Polish club Wisla Krakow on a two-year deal, with the possibility of a third year.
He quickly became an important player for the team, scoring the decisive goal in the 2023 MLS final to secure the club’s third championship title.
However, he struggled to replicate that form in the following season, appearing primarily as a substitute.
Over the course of the 2024 regular season, he made 24 appearances, scoring once and contributing three assists.
Yeboah was unable to feature in the playoffs, as Columbus Crew were eliminated by the New York Red Bulls, who eventually became Eastern Conference champions.
As Yeboah heads toward free agency, he could explore new opportunities in MLS, with the Re-Entry Process offering a potential pathway to continue his professional journey.
