Young Apostles head coach Asare Bediako expressed pride in his team's performance following their 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League matchweek 3 encounter at the Len Clay Stadium.

Emmanuel Antwi's equalizer in the second half canceled out Daniel Lomotey's opener for Kotoko, marking a significant achievement for Bediako's young squad.

Reflecting on the match, Bediako noted, "Young Apostles is a young team, and that is why I was etxcited about drawing with Asante Kotoko.

It felt like a win for us. We studied them before the game and prepared our players mentally, so I believe we deserved more than just a point."

His comments also highlighted the importance of local talent in the Kotoko setup. Bediako remarked, "Yes, I said Kumasi needs Kumasi.

It’s not only about coaches but also players. We had northerners who were born in Kumasi and raised in Kumasi who played and coached Kotoko very well." He stressed that including homegrown talent is essential for the club's success, suggesting that "at least there must be four regular players playing for Kotoko."

While some might interpret his statements as an ambition for the Kotoko coaching position, Bediako clarified, "The point I was making was not specifically about coaches.

I’m not saying I want to coach Kotoko, but I can coach Kotoko and be successful."

Bediako has a wealth of experience managing clubs like Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea, and Bamboutos FC in Cameroon, adding credibility to his views on the potential of local talent in Ghanaian football.
