Former president John Mahama has described the Akufo-Addo government as one which is an obstacle to Ghana’s development.
According to him, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have clearly shown that they are not interested in completing projects started by previous governments.
Such an attitude, Mahama said, is at variance with the laws of the 1992 constitution and smacks of ignorance.
He said every new President must continue to complete all projects in all sectors for the good people of Ghana before commencing new ones.
Mahama was speaking to chiefs and people of the Asutifi North Constituency at the district capital, Hwidiem, as part of a two-day tour to the Ahafo Region.
He said former presidents like J.J. Rawlings, J.A Kufuor, the late Atta-Mills and himself respected the constitution by tackling uncompleted projects before touching on new ones.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo government is the only one that appears to be going astray.
The posture of the NPP government, he said, will eventually deny people the right to have improved living conditions, irrespective of political affiliation.
Mahama said the Akufo-Addo government has become an obstacle to Ghana’s development by neglecting major projects which could benefit the majority of Ghanaians.
The NDC flagbearer went on to deny reports that he said he would cancel the Free Senior High School initiative introduced by the NPP.
According to him, the NDC will amend the double-track system, which he believes is not helping in effective teaching and learning.
