The personnel, were working under the Community Health, Youth in Police and Fire service and the Environmental Protection modules in the Asokore Mampong Municipality have been complaining about their allowance, which has been in arrears for more than 3 months.

The YEA in the Asokore Mampong Municipal had recruited 700 workers to various modules but authorities have defended their decision to dismiss the aggrieved workers, saying it was wrong for them to stay at home while waiting for their allowances.

“It is true they are complaining about their allowances but you are employed and you agreed to work so for how long are you going to stay at home waiting for allowances.”said Alice Anthony, who the Asokore Mampong Municipal director of the YEA.

She said the  Authorities were compelled to take the action because the personnel failed to turn up regularly to work for three months.

She noted that the action could affect a lot more as about half of all the 700 youth registered under her office are not attending to their duty posts.

She however emitted  that most of them complained they have no monies for transportation to and from work because their monthly allowances due them have not been paid for some months.
