National Democratic Congress  parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso North constituency , Yussif Jaja,  has won the 2016 parliamentary elections in the constituency, to retain the seat held by incumbent MP Hon Ahmed Mustapha.

He won  the seat  with an impressive 22,298 votes against 14,777 of  NPP Aminu Mz, who was expected to snatch the seat from the NDC

The young man beat incumbent Honourable Dr. Musatapha Ahmed in the party's  primaries last year in a fierce contest.

Speaking to ghanaguardian.com a day before the election, Jaja expressed optimism of winning the seat with an overwhelming margin.

"The Ayawaso North constituency has been for the NDC and its obvious we are winning, we only need to stretch,"  he said

"I have always tried to lead  a clean campaign devoid of insults  and have always tried to look beyond the 7th December elections. I want to represent this constituency in peace and I promise to be an MP for all."

The National Democratic Congress won both the parliamentary and presidential elections in the constituency.The president John Mahama also won the constituency with 22174 against 14,860 of NPP's Nana Addo.
