Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC has officially distanced itself from recent comments made by General Manager Eric Alagidede regarding Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s promise to support domestic football clubs.

During the launch of his manifesto, Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), announced that if elected, his government would provide a bus to each Ghana Premier League club.

Alagidede had responded to this promise by suggesting that clubs would benefit more from tax rebates rather than additional buses.

In response to Alagidede’s remarks, Nsoatreman FC issued a statement clarifying their position and apologizing for any confusion caused.

The club emphasized that Alagidede’s comments were made in his personal capacity and do not reflect the official stance of Nsoatreman FC.

The club’s statement read:

“Nsoatreman Football Club has taken notice of a media publication concerning a recent interview by our General Manager, Mr. Eric Alagidede.

We wish to clarify the following points:

1. The interview in question was conducted by Mr. Eric Alagidede in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the club.
2. The club does not endorse the opinions expressed by our General Manager on this matter and hereby dissociates itself from those views.
3. Nsoatreman Football Club is committed to abiding by all statutory obligations, including tax payments, for the development of the country.
4. We fully support any government initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges faced by football clubs, including Dr. Bawumia’s proposal to provide a bus for each league club.
5. The Board of Directors will engage with the General Manager to ensure clarity and proper context on this issue.
6. We apologize to all stakeholders and interested parties who may have been inadvertently affected by this matter.”

Nsoatreman FC remains supportive of initiatives that aim to improve the conditions for football clubs in Ghana and looks forward to constructive engagement with all stakeholders.
