Dorcas Affo-Toffey proposes Jomoro-Tema railway link

Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has proposed the construction of a railway line connecting Jomoro in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region. This proposal is part of her vision to enhance Ghana’s railway infrastructure and streamline the movement of goods across the country.
During her appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Madam Affo-Toffey emphasised her commitment to revitalising the railway sector, making it more attractive for private investors, and ensuring its long-term viability.
“One of the things when I’m given the nod is I will work with my sector minister [Joseph Bukari Nikpe] to open it up for private investment, or investors to come on board to see how we can revamp the sector to make it viable to help us as a country,” she stated.
When asked about her support for the proposed Jomoro-Tema rail link, Affo-Toffey confirmed her backing for the initiative.
“Yes, Mr Chairman, I will because it will help. Yes, I will,” she said.
If confirmed, Madam Affo-Toffey pledged to play an active role in the growth and modernisation of Ghana’s transport and railway sectors, contributing to the broader goal of improving infrastructure and boosting economic growth.
