Two individuals have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving an articulator truck loaded with cement pipes along the Fomena–Adansi Asokwa stretch in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning when the truck, bearing registration number GT 5501-23, veered off the road and plunged into a ditch.

The vehicle was reportedly en route from Takoradi to Kumasi.

According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the truck, leading to the crash that claimed the lives of two persons on board.

The Fomena District Police, led by DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, responded swiftly to the scene.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered and transported to the Adansi Fomena District Hospital mortuary, as police launch investigations into the cause of the crash.

The tragic incident has reignited public concern over the safety of the Fomena–Asokwa road, which locals describe as accident-prone.

Residents have called on authorities to implement urgent road safety interventions, citing poor visibility, narrow road shoulders, and the lack of speed control measures as major contributing factors to frequent accidents on the stretch.

“This is not the first time lives have been lost here. We need speed ramps, better signage, and proper lighting,” one resident lamented.

As investigations continue, local leaders and community members are urging swift action to prevent further tragedies on this increasingly dangerous route.
