Women’s Premier League players hail extension of locker room bonus

Players in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League have applauded the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and headline partner betPawa for extending the Locker Room Bonus initiative to the women’s top-flight for the 2025/26 season.
Faith Ladies defender Beauty Abena Julius, Jonina Ladies’ Matilda Bless Fodu, and Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ Comfort Yeboah described the decision as a major boost for women’s football in Ghana, citing its potential to enhance motivation and competitiveness.
“This is a huge encouragement for us,” said Beauty Abena. “It shows that the GFA and betPawa truly value women’s footballers. Knowing there’s a tangible reward for every victory will push us to give our all on matchday.”
Yeboah noted that the initiative will make “every game count even more,” while Fodu called it “recognition for the hard work we put in week after week.”
The Locker Room Bonus, first introduced in the men’s Ghana Premier League two seasons ago, offers players instant cash rewards after every win. It will take effect from matchday one of the new women’s campaign.
