The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has condemned two separate violent incidents that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, describing them as alarming threats to the safety of railway workers, passengers, and infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, the Authority reported that one of its passenger trains, DMU2, was attacked by unidentified individuals who pelted stones at the moving train near Tema, endangering both crew and commuters.

Later that evening, the General Manager of passenger service operations at Tema was physically assaulted on his way home in Ashaiman. He is currently receiving medical attention, with the Authority assuring him and his family of its full support.

“These acts of violence and vandalism are not isolated,” the Authority said in a statement on November 12, 2025. “They reflect a troubling pattern that threatens the safety of railway personnel and infrastructure and undermines the safety of our national transport system.”

The GRDA said it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate both incidents and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.

As part of immediate safety measures, the Authority has ordered the removal of all unauthorised occupants and structures along railway lines, with eviction processes already underway.

The GRDA also appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to the attacks to the police or the nearest railway authority office.
