The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced that 268 fuel stations, eight depots, and two oil refineries across four regions will be included in the phased implementation of the government’s 24-hour economy programme within the downstream petroleum sector.

The facilities are located in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Northern regions.

Speaking at the launch of the pilot phase of the initiative, the Chief Executive of the NPA, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, said the programme is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve fuel distribution, and stimulate economic activity in the petroleum downstream industry.

According to him, the phased approach will allow authorities to assess and fine-tune the system before a nationwide rollout.

“This programme will be rolled out in phases beginning with selected facilities across four regions of Ghana namely Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Northern regions. We are looking at covering 268 fuel stations, eight depots, and operating in two oil refineries,” he stated.

He explained that the pilot phase will help stakeholders evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative and ensure safe and sustainable implementation.

“This will enable us to test systems, refine operational models, and ensure that the transition is efficient, safe, and sustainable,” he added.

Presidential Advisor on the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, Goosie Tanoh, also noted that the programme is expected to boost productivity and support higher economic output within the downstream petroleum sector.

He expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute significantly to job creation, increased productivity, and broader economic growth.
