Ghana international Gideon Mensah delivered a standout performance for AJ Auxerre as they secured a crucial 2-0 victory over LOSC Lille on the final day of the French Ligue 1 season to avoid relegation.

The Black Stars defender played the full 90 minutes and was instrumental at both ends of the pitch, helping Auxerre finish two points above the relegation zone in a dramatic end to the campaign.

Mensah capped off an impressive display with an assist while also contributing significantly in defence and attack. He recorded five clearances, completed two of his three crosses, created three key passes and produced one big chance during the contest.

The 25-year-old also dominated his individual battles, winning all six of his ground duels and completing his only attempted dribble successfully.

His influential performance earned him a 7.8 rating as Auxerre celebrated survival in front of their home supporters.

Mensah’s display will come as a major boost for Ghana ahead of upcoming international assignments, with the defender continuing to prove his importance for both club and country.
