Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz says meticulous preparation and attention to detail will be key if the Black Stars are to make a strong impression at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The four-time African champions are preparing for their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament after being drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, Queiroz outlined a modern and structured approach to the team’s World Cup preparations, insisting that success would depend on more than just talent on the pitch.

“We have to put the right preparation in place, training, diet, nutrition, physios, fitness, and the details of set pieces,” the Portuguese coach said.

The former Manchester United assistant manager stressed that every aspect of the team’s environment must meet the highest standards as Ghana seek to compete with some of the world’s strongest nations.

Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on 17 June before taking on England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June in what is expected to be one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.

As part of their build-up, the Black Stars are scheduled to face Mexico later this month before a friendly against Wales on 2 June, fixtures expected to give Queiroz a clearer picture of his final squad.

The 73-year-old is expected to announce his final World Cup roster on 1 June as preparations intensify ahead of the global showpiece.
