Black Satellites crash out of WAFU B U-20 Championship after a goalless draw with Togo

Ghana’s Black Satellites have been eliminated from the WAFU B U-20 Championship after being held to a goalless draw by Togo in their final group match.

The result ended Ghana’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage of the regional tournament, with the Black Satellites unable to find the breakthrough despite needing a positive outcome to keep their campaign alive.

While the early exit will come as a disappointment for the seven-time African champions, Ghana have already secured qualification for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) by virtue of hosting the continental tournament.

The Black Satellites created several opportunities against Togo but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal, as both sides settled for a 0-0 draw at the final whistle.

Attention will now shift to preparations for the 2027 U-20 AFCON, where Ghana will aim to make the most of home advantage and challenge for a record-extending continental title.

Although the WAFU B campaign ended earlier than expected, automatic qualification as hosts ensures the Black Satellites remain on course to compete on Africa’s biggest youth football stage in 2027.
