Asokwa Deportivo’s Maxwell Oppong handed late call up to “local” Black Stars
Asokwa Deportivo player Maxwell Oppong has been handed a late call up to the Black Stars B team ahead of a friendly against Inter Allies on Thursday.
The player’s addition to the team makes him only the third player from a lower tier side to be given a call up to the Black Stars’ second team.
Emmanuel Wobenu of second tier side Accra Lions and Dreams FC’s Emmanuel Lomotey being his only two predecessors.
Returnee Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah who is in charge of both senior and second teams of the Black Stars wants to bolster his local based squad ahead of the 2018 CHAN Qualifiers and the upcoming WAFU tournament to be hosted by Ghana in September.
