The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in the United States as preparations enter their final phase ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The team landed safely in Providence, Rhode Island, on Wednesday after concluding a weeks-long training camp in Cardiff, Wales. Players, technical staff and officials are now shifting their focus to the final stages of preparation before the tournament kicks off later this month.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz travelled with his final 26-man squad, which was officially announced on 1 June following the conclusion of Ghana’s European training programme.

The Black Stars wrapped up their Cardiff camp with a friendly match against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday. Midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi handed Ghana the lead in the second half, but a late defensive lapse allowed Lewis Koumas to equalise for the hosts, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Despite the setback, the match provided another valuable test for Queiroz and his players as they continue to fine-tune tactics, build cohesion and assess readiness for football’s biggest stage.

Ghana are scheduled to face Jamaica in a final warm-up fixture on 10 June before turning their full attention to the World Cup.

The four-time African champions will be making their fifth appearance at the tournament and have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

Their campaign begins against Panama on 17 June, followed by matches against England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.

Having reached the quarter-finals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the furthest any Ghanaian side has progressed at the tournament, the Black Stars will be hoping to recreate that success and advance beyond the group stage once again.

With the countdown to kick-off now well underway, anticipation continues to grow among supporters as Ghana seeks to make its mark on the global stage.
