Expect more from me next season – Benjamin Asare
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare says he is determined to elevate his performances in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after an impressive FIFA World Cup campaign with the Black Stars.
The 34-year-old emerged as one of Ghana’s standout performers during the 2026 World Cup in North America, earning a place in the Black Stars’ final squad before starting all three of the country’s group-stage matches against Panama, England and Croatia.
His assured displays between the posts won widespread praise and further strengthened his growing reputation at both club and international level.
Despite his recent success, Asare insists he is far from satisfied and is eager to reward the faith shown in him by Ghanaian football fans.
“This is the time to prove to Ghanaians that I can do it.”
“Once it is my job, I must prove it anywhere because of the love and the way they cheer me. As of now, expect more from me next season.”
The experienced goalkeeper is now fully focused on helping Hearts of Oak challenge for honours when the new Ghana Premier League season gets underway.
The Phobians open their 2026/27 campaign against Berekum Chelsea, with Asare expected to play a pivotal role as the Accra-based club seeks a strong start to the season.
His form at club level could also prove crucial to his international ambitions, with Ghana set to begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in September. Strong performances for Hearts of Oak are expected to keep Asare firmly in contention for another Black Stars call-up.
