The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has reportedly shut down Italian Boy Lounge, a popular nightclub located at Nungua Kantamanto in Accra, following a raid over the alleged possession of illicit drugs.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, the operation was carried out on the evening of Friday, July 3, 2026, while the nightclub was reportedly being prepared to open for business.

During the exercise, authorities allegedly discovered and seized substances suspected to be illicit drugs. Two members of staff were arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.

The nightclub has since been closed by the FDA as investigations continue.

The FDA is yet to issue an official statement detailing the exact nature of the substances seized or the circumstances surrounding the operation.

The raid is said to be part of a broader crackdown by the FDA and other state agencies aimed at curbing the possession, abuse and distribution of illicit substances in entertainment venues and other public spaces across the country.

Investigations remain ongoing.
