A corpse surfaced in the Alogboshie on Wednesday, July 1, as the tide of destruction from Monday’s catastrophic precipitation gradually subsided, adding another name to the mounting death toll extracted from the submerged landscape.

The body emerged as water levels receded, its discovery marking yet another instance in which the delayed retrieval of remains has complicated the grim accounting process.

Identification of the deceased remains undetermined, with authorities unable to establish the individual’s name or family connection at the time of recovery.

The circumstances precipitating the person’s death remain shrouded in uncertainty.

Whether the individual drowned while attempting to navigate floodwaters, was struck by floating debris, or perished from other causes related to the deluge cannot yet be determined pending autopsy and investigative procedures.

The corpse awaits police escort and the transport apparatus necessary to convey remains to a mortuary facility for preservation and formal procedures.

As floodwaters continue their retreat across affected neighbourhoods, the grim reality persists that additional bodies may yet surface from zones previously too inundated to access safely.

The discovery elevates the confirmed casualty count to twelve individuals, according to tallies maintained by the Ghana National Fire Service — a figure that appears likely to continue climbing as search-and-recovery operations penetrate waterlogged zones where missing persons may yet be discovered.
