Head coach of the senior national women team Yusif Basigi has insisted that he is not ready to succeed out of contract Israeli tactician Avram Grant as manager of the Black Stars.

Speaking to sports show host Captain Kobby Stone, Mr Basigi who has coached Sekondi Hasaacas in the past, it is not time for him to coach the men senior team as he has not served the team as assistant coach yet.

Yusif Basigi has been successful with the Black Queens and has been tipped by some football bookmakers for the vacant Black Stars job but insists he is not as well-placed for the role as people look at it from afar.

“The truth is only one. I am not ready to coach the Black Stars and it is not that I am not capable of the task it is not yet time for me to do that” he said

“To me it is not time for me to coach the Black Stars even though people who stand afar see me to be ready. If you look at all the Africans who have coached the Black Stars you realize that they all served as assistants under a substantive coach before becoming head coaches.

“The terrain is different so you have to understudy to see it before becoming the coach. It is true that when I apply it will boost my credentials but I do not want to apply for the job and not get it”

“Someone like Akwesi Appiah assisted for a long time before getting the job” he added

He has also laid emphasis on committing to the Black Queens ahead of the 2018 African Women’s Championship in Ghana while claiming he is not desperate for a coaching role at club level after being linked with Ghana premier league side Medeama SC.
