Kufuor urges NPP to prioritise unity ahead of 2026 flagbearer election

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to place unity at the center of their efforts as the party works toward rebuilding for the future.
In an interview on The Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, Mr. Kufuor encouraged party members to put aside internal rifts and rally behind the NPP’s core principles.
“Unity is key to the NPP’s future progress. We might not be friends or allies, but because we all believe in the principles and ideals of the party, it is important to unite to push the party,” he said.
The former President stressed that party cohesion is vital not only for electoral gains but also for effective governance. He noted that voters respond positively to parties that demonstrate internal harmony.
“Ghanaians appreciate unity. We will be able to serve Ghanaians better if we are united to serve them well when we win power,” he added.
Mr. Kufuor’s comments come as the NPP undertakes reforms and reorganisation following its defeat in the 2024 general elections. The party is expected to elect its next flagbearer in January 2026.
