The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind the recent fire outbreaks in our markets, an outspoken member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Patrick Kwarteng Sarpong, widely known as P.K. Sarpong has alleged.

According to him, the NDC has resorted to setting the big markets in the country ablaze for the simple reason they could not wrestle power from the NPP.

In his Facebook claims, P.K. said National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo's leaked tape could be used "as grounds to believe that the NDC is behind these spate of fire outbreaks in our big markets."

Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo came under fire in 2019 over comments he allegedly made in a secret recording.

On the recording, a voice believed to Mr Ampofo's is heard urging people to take the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa to the 'cleaners'. The voice also endorsed verbal attacks on the National Peace Council Chairman, Reverend Emmanuel Asante.

The audiotape also suggests that abductions and kidnappings could be used to silence political opponents.

P.K. Sarpong, however, observed the burning of Kantamto market which occurred days ago and yesterday's incident at the Kaneshie market cannot be coincidental. To him, "It is a well orchestrated move by the NDC to put into effect their devilish plans for the nation."

He said in 2024, the NPP will refresh the memories of these market women about how some rogues within the NDC contributed to their losses.

He wrote:

"I cannot, for the life of me, contemplate why a human being born of a woman would consider setting markets ablaze for the simple reason that his party lost the elections.

These whole melodramatic events play firmly into the intent of the opposition National Democratic Congress to make Ghana an ungovernable entity if things did not go their way.

We have Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo’s tapes as grounds to believe that the NDC is behind these spate of fire outbreaks in our big markets.

The burning of the Kaneshie Market cannot be coincidental. It is a well orchestrated move by the NDC to put into effect their devilish plans for the nation.

We shall remind these market women in 2024 about how some rogues within the NDC contributed to their losses."
