The issue of appointing a new coach for the Black Stars will be discussed by the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee today (Tuesday).

GHANASoccernet reports that George Afriyie, the management committee head of the Ghanaian national team, will present a technical report to the ExCo. This will be followed by discussions on candidates to be the next Black Stars coach.

“We will meet the ExCo to submit our management and technical reports which has always been the standard practice. The issue of the next coach will surely be top on the agenda,” said Afriyie.

He added that the Ghana FA’s choice of coach will be guided by competence and merit, not issues such as whether he is a local or foreign coach.

“I want to be careful when it comes to next coach of the Stars, Ghanaians want a coach that will take us to the promised land, win us AFCON and qualify us for the World Cup,” explained Afriyie.

Ghana are without a coach for their senior national team following a disappointing showing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Israeli Avram Grant left his post after the completion of the tournament.
