Sturm Graz consider Southampton defender Joshua Quarshie for Bundesliga move

Germany-Ghana centre-back Joshua Quarshie is being linked with a move from Southampton to Austrian Bundesliga club Sturm Graz.

Quarshie, 22, joined Southampton from Hoffenheim in July 2025 in a deal worth €3.5m and remains under contract with the Championship club until June 2029.

The defender has not featured for Southampton in the opening two possible Championship or EFL Cup matches of the 2026-27 season, with no appearances, starts or minutes recorded in either competition.

Quarshie’s current market value is listed at €4m, placing the potential move in the context of a player Southampton signed for a similar fee last summer. There is no indication of an agreed transfer or a confirmed bid from Sturm Graz.

Born in Duisburg, Quarshie developed in Germany and has also spent time on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf and Greuther Furth before establishing himself at Hoffenheim. He moved permanently to Southampton after the 2024-25 season.

Sturm Graz are exploring defensive options as the Austrian club considers whether to pursue the Southampton player, but the rumour remains at an early stage. Quarshie’s long-term contract means Southampton retain control of his situation, despite his lack of competitive involvement so far this season.
