Sunderland linked with Lorient centre-back Nathaniel Adjei as Premier League move emerges

Nathaniel Adjei, the Ghanaian centre-back at FC Lorient, is linked with a move to Sunderland in the Premier League.
Adjei, 24, has made one Ligue 1 appearance for Lorient this season, starting the club’s only match and completing 90 minutes. The reported interest comes with the defender under contract in France until 30 June 2028.
Lorient signed Adjei permanently from Swedish club Hammarby in July 2024 after an earlier loan spell, with the transfer recorded at a fee of €5.7m. He helped Lorient win the French second-tier title in the 2024-25 season.
The centre-back began his senior career in Ghana before moving to Hammarby in 2022. He joined Lorient on loan in January 2024 and returned to the French club permanently several months later.
Sunderland’s reported interest would represent a potential move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League for Adjei, whose current market value is listed at €1.5m. No transfer fee or probability has been established in connection with the rumour.
Adjei remains a Lorient player, with his long-term contract running through the end of the 2027-28 season.
