Think big, deliver big – Carlos Queiroz to Black Stars players ahead of World Cup

Newly appointed Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has declared his ambition to lead the Black Stars to an impressive FIFA World Cup campaign despite taking charge only months before the tournament in North America.
The experienced Portuguese tactician, who previously served as assistant manager at Manchester United, was appointed in April 2026 after Ghana parted ways with Otto Addo.
Although Queiroz is yet to assemble the full squad since his arrival, he has already delivered a passionate message to his players, outlining the mentality and discipline he expects ahead of the global tournament.
“Forty days to honour the pride, passion, and dreams of Ghana. Absolute focus. Maximum discipline. Total sacrifice. No distractions. No excuses. Only commitment to excellence,” Queiroz said.
The veteran coach urged the team to embrace ambition and unity as preparations intensify for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“Think big. Believe big. Be ready to deliver big,” he added.
Queiroz also stressed the importance of teamwork and discipline, insisting that success will depend on the collective commitment of the squad both on and off the pitch.
“Greatness is a team united on and off the pitch by discipline, sacrifice, and the relentless execution of every small detail together. Time to rise for Ghana,” he said.
Attention now turns to Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico national football team later this month, which will offer Queiroz his first opportunity to assess his squad in action.
The former Portugal national football team and Iran national football team coach is expected to announce his final World Cup squad in early June as Ghana steps up preparations for football’s biggest stage.
