Young woman shot dead in Pru East by boyfriend
A young woman believed to be in her early 20s was fatally shot on the afternoon of Monday, June 10, in Seker, a community in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.
The shooting occurred around 3:00 p.m. while the victim was visiting the area with her alleged boyfriend and two of his friends. According to police reports, the woman sustained a gunshot wound to her left arm.
The group attempted to flee the scene, but police intercepted their vehicle and quickly transported the injured woman to St. Martin’s Hospital in Yeji. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The suspected shooter, identified as 31-year-old Hayford Boateng believed to be the victim’s boyfriend has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
His companions, Kojo Emmanuel, 28, and Michael Kabutey, 34, who were present during the incident, have also been detained to assist with investigations.
The Yeji police command is leading the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
