Former Ghana Football Association(GFA), Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi says that he was taken aback when Ghana inflicted a heavy 6-1 defeat on African giants Egypt in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the top countries played a two legged play off with the Black Stars squaring off with Egypt as Ghana played the first leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and inflicted a hefty 6-1 scoreline.

Ghana lost the second leg 2-1 in Egypt but the heavy 6-1 score line was enough as Ghana booked their place at the Mundial in Brazil.

A brace from Asamoah Gyan, an own goal from Wael Goma and further goals from Majeed Waris, Sulley Muntari and a Strike from Christian Atsu gave Ghana a 6-0 lead before a penalty from Mohammed Aboutrika made it 6-1.

“I was surprised when Ghana beat Egypt 6-1 at the 2014 world cup qualifies though I knew we will win but not that huge margin,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said on Onua TV.
