The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially released the full fixture list for the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season, giving clubs and fans an exciting preview of the matchups set to define the upcoming campaign.

Champions Open at Home

Defending champions Gold Stars FC will begin their title defense at home, welcoming Bechem United to the Duns Park in Bibiani. The season opener promises to set the tone for what could be another thrilling season in Ghana’s top flight, with the champions eager to begin on a high note.

Hearts and Kotoko Chart Different Paths

Accra Hearts of Oak, seeking redemption after a mixed 2024/25 campaign, will host newly promoted Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Match Day 1. In contrast, rivals Asante Kotoko SC face a stern test away to Berekum Chelsea, as they begin their journey toward reclaiming the title.

Match Day 1 Highlights

The opening weekend features several mouthwatering fixtures:

  • Medeama SC travel to face top-flight debutants Young Apostles.

  • FC Samartex hit the road to play Vision FC.

  • Returnees Swedru All Blacks FC and Eleven Wonders FC are also away, facing Nations FC and Basake Holy Stars, respectively.

  • Heart of Lions, runners-up last season, host Dreams FC, while Karela United take on Aduana FC in a closely contested fixture.

Derbies and Rivalries Set the Stage

Ghana’s most anticipated fixture — Hearts of Oak vs. Asante Kotoko — is scheduled for Match Day 5 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg on Match Day 22 at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Ashanti Derby between Nations FC and Asante Kotoko will unfold on Match Day 9 in Abrankese, with the reverse fixture on Match Day 26.

In a major highlight, the Volta Derby returns to the calendar after several years. Hohoe United host Heart of Lions on Match Day 17, with the reverse fixture — fittingly — closing the season on Match Day 34 in Kpando.

Regional Battles: Brong Ahafo Takes Center Stage

The Brong Ahafo region will witness several fierce rivalries:

  • Young Apostles face off against Bechem United (MD5), Berekum Chelsea (MD7), and Aduana FC (MD16), with reverse fixtures on MD22, MD24, and MD33.

  • Aduana FC meet Bechem United (MD9) and Berekum Chelsea (MD11).

  • Bechem United also clash with Eleven Wonders (MD14) and Berekum Chelsea (MD17), while Chelsea host Eleven Wonders on MD16.

Western Showdowns: Medeama, Samartex, Basake Holy Stars

Western Ghana will be buzzing with derbies:

  • Medeama SC host FC Samartex on Match Day 6, with the reverse fixture on Match Day 23.

  • Medeama will welcome Basake Holy Stars on Match Day 15 and travel for the return leg on Match Day 32.

  • Samartex face Basake Holy Stars away on Match Day 14, with the return leg on Match Day 31.

Season Timeline and Structure

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League kicks off on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and will conclude on May 23–24, 2026. The calendar is carefully aligned to ensure the season wraps up well ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup (June 11 – July 19, 2026).

With GFA Congress set for Tuesday, August 12, 2025, preparations are on track for a smooth season start under FIFA’s international calendar.

League matches will primarily take place on weekends, with midweek dates reserved for rescheduled or outstanding fixtures — maintaining the format used during the 2024/25 season.

As anticipation builds nationwide, supporters can now mark key match days, plan away trips, and prepare for what promises to be a season full of high-stakes battles, emotional derbies, and unforgettable moments. Whether chasing titles or fighting for survival, the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League is poised to deliver passion and drama from start to finish.
