DVLA launches Lorry Terminal Project

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has launched its Lorry Terminal Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at bringing licensing services directly to commercial drivers at transport terminals across the country.
The project allows drivers to renew or replace licences, apply for new ones, convert foreign licences, obtain international driving permits, and upgrade licence categories, all without having to visit a DVLA office.
DVLA Chief Executive, Julius Neequaye Kotey, said the initiative forms part of efforts to enhance customer convenience and streamline operations within the transport sector.
“We are here to launch the DVLA Lorry Terminal Project to ensure that everyone who qualifies to drive can acquire the requisite certification. Licences must be renewed two years after issuance, renewed again two years later, and replaced a year after the second renewal. These processes include an eye examination to ensure drivers meet the required vision standards,” he explained.
Mr. Kotey encouraged drivers to fully take advantage of the initiative:
“This project is tailored for you, even though it is also open to the general public,” he said.
At the GPRTU Circle-Kaneshie Station, drivers praised the initiative, saying it would save them both time and money, while making it easier to keep their documents current.
