Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has urged Premier League referees to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season kicks off on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The call came during a virtual meeting with match officials, which was also attended by Executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong, Referees Manager Alex Kotey, and Referees Committee Chairperson Christine Enyonam Zigah.

Okraku underscored referees’ critical role in safeguarding the credibility of Ghana’s competitions.

“Let me be clear and without any form of ambiguity: I will not stand in the way of justice if any of you engage in unprofessional or unethical conduct,” he declared.

“Integrity is a key demand, and we will not compromise on anything that threatens the momentum, energy, and gains made ahead of the new campaign.”

He urged referees to prepare thoroughly and deliver performances that would earn the admiration of players, fans, and stakeholders alike.

The GFA boss also highlighted recent enhanced welfare packages and improved financial conditions for referees, stressing that officials now have the full backing to perform without excuses.

“With your full cooperation, we can achieve the best Premier League season ever, free from needless controversies,” he added.

Acheampong commended the GFA’s investments in referee welfare and challenged match officials to reciprocate with discipline and professionalism.

The 2025/26 season will also see referees in the Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League benefit from a comprehensive welfare programme rolled out by the GFA.

With kickoff set for Friday, September 12, the Association says it is determined to deliver a season marked by credibility, integrity, and renewed energy across all competitions.
