Ghana Premier League: Bashiru Hayford relishes unbeaten run after Kotoko stalemate

Heart of Lions continued their remarkable start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, holding record champions Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The result preserved their unbeaten record and lifted them to the top of the table with 10 points from four matches.
The Kpando-based club, under the guidance of head coach Bashir Hayford, have now chalked up one of the best early-season runs in the league, combining tactical discipline with attacking intent.
“It was a very hard-fought match, and we split the points; it is okay for me,” Hayford said.
“It’s not even about staying at the top — it’s the unbeaten run over four matches. It speaks volumes.”
Despite facing a Kotoko side fresh off a CAF Confederation Cup triumph, Heart of Lions held their own, showcasing defensive resilience and midfield control. Hayford’s measured response reflects a coach focused on consistency and growth, rather than early-season hype.
Sitting atop of the Ghana Premier League after matchweek 4, with a formidable unbeaten record, the Kpando-based club will face bottom-placed Berekum Chelsea in the Matchday 5 of the Ghana Premier League with hopes of keeping their record intact.
