Ghanaian defender David Acquah scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to propel FC Aarau to the top of the Swiss Challenge League standings after a tense title-deciding clash against FC Vaduz.

In a fiercely contested encounter away in Vaduz, Acquah emerged as the hero with a last-gasp goal that sealed a crucial victory for Aarau, allowing them to leapfrog their rivals by a single point in the race for promotion.

The goal marked the Ghanaian’s second of the season and could prove one of the most important strikes of Aarau’s campaign as the club moved into pole position at a decisive stage of the season.

Acquah delivered a commanding performance at the heart of defence and played the full 90 minutes, combining resilience at the back with a memorable contribution in attack when it mattered most.

Fellow Ghanaian Daniel Afriyie Barnieh also featured for Aarau, coming off the bench to play the final 14 minutes as the visitors held on to secure the vital result.

The victory sparked celebrations among Aarau supporters, with the club now firmly in control of its push for top-flight football next season.
