Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo is dead

Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly died at the age of 40 after a prolonged battle with cancer.
A source revealed that Alex was rushed to the hospital on Monday, and that he had been battling kidney cancer.
He passed away on Tuesday afternoon after spending hours on life support.
Actor Stanley Ontop also confirmed the news, writing: “Black Tuesday in Nollywood as we lost one of our vibrant actor @alexxekubo. He died in the hospital after a prolonged battle with liver cancer. Rest in peace.”
His death was confirmed by colleagues including Funke Akindele, Bolanle Ninalowo, and Godwin Nnadiekwe.
Akindele wrote on her Instagram story: “Hmmmmmm. Rest in peace, Alex… ‘Ore mi’ like you fondly called me, I will always remember and cherish the good times we shared together.”
Ninalowo, who is currently in the United States, wrote: “Rest on, Alex. May God heal your family and us all.” Nnadiekwe shared: “I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul.”
Alex Ekubo was best known for his roles in Nollywood romantic comedies and dramas.
He was the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest and rose to prominence in the Nollywood blockbuster Weekend Getaway.

In 2020, he was named one of the “Most Influential People of African Descent under 40” by the United Nations for his contributions to entertainment and social development.

As of now, neither his family nor official representatives have issued any statement, and more details are still emerging.
