Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service have responded to two separate emergencies in the Volta Region within a single day, rescuing accident victims and preventing a domestic fire from causing wider destruction.

The Volta Regional Command’s Public Relations Office confirmed in a statement on Thursday, May 14, 2026, that crews from the Peki Fire Station attended to both incidents on Wednesday, May 13.

The first call took the team to the Peki–Asikuma Road at Ayensu, where a SINO tipper truck had been involved in an accident. Firefighters arrived promptly and successfully rescued two male victims trapped as a result of the crash.

Later the same day, the crew was dispatched to Asikuma Zongo, where a three-bedroom thatch-roofed house had become fully engulfed in flames. Officers moved quickly to contain and extinguish the blaze before it could extend to neighbouring structures, limiting the destruction to the affected property.

The Ghana National Fire Service used the occasion to remind the public of the importance of reporting emergencies without delay, noting that prompt distress calls allow personnel to respond swiftly and improve the chances of saving lives and protecting property.
