Aspiring New Patriotic Party National Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has promised to champion employment creation for young Ghanaians if he wins the party’s internal leadership contest.

Making his pitch to members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy and students of the University of Ghana Business School on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Chairman Wontumi said a combination of his leadership at the party level and a Bawumia-led government in 2028 would translate into improved job prospects for graduates and unemployed youth across the country.

“If you make me the National Chairman and Dr Bawumia becomes the president in 2028, God will use me to create jobs in this country,” he told the gathering, adding that the benefits would extend to the families and relatives of young people currently struggling to find employment.

Chairman Wontumi is among a number of figures positioning themselves for the NPP’s upcoming internal leadership elections as the party begins charting its path toward the 2028 general elections following its defeat at the 2024 polls.
