Ghanaian defender Elisha Boateng has taken a major step in his football career after signing his first professional contract with English League One side Milton Keynes Dons F.C..

The 18-year-old earned the deal following a series of impressive performances through the club’s youth system, where he quickly established himself as one of the academy’s promising young talents.

MK Dons confirmed Boateng’s promotion to the senior ranks ahead of the 2026/27 season as part of the club’s retained and released list, with the Ghanaian defender among a group of academy players rewarded for their development and consistency.

Boateng’s rise through the youth setup has drawn praise within the club, with coaches highlighting his defensive awareness, composure on the ball and maturity despite his young age.

The professional contract marks a significant milestone for the teenager, who now moves a step closer to competing regularly at senior level in English football.

For many young Ghanaian players hoping to break into Europe, Boateng’s journey reflects the growing influence of Ghanaian talent within English academies and the opportunities available through hard work and development.

The defender is expected to continue his progression with the first team during pre-season as he looks to establish himself in the plans of the MK Dons coaching staff ahead of the new campaign.
