Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, Sports Editor at Multimedia Group Limited and host of Sports Zone, has been recognized by the University of Ghana's Sports Psychology class of 2024 for his exceptional contributions to the advancement of sports journalism in Ghana.

In a special ceremony held at the university's campus, Fentuo was presented with a framed citation at the conclusion of a two-hour class where he served as a guest lecturer.

The session, facilitated by Dr. Collins Badu Agyemang, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and director of the Pan-African Doctoral Academy at Legon, focused on the significance of sports psychology in the sports industry and the vital role journalists play in highlighting pertinent issues.

Fentuo, an alumnus of the Psychology Department at the University of Ghana, was invited by Dr. Agyemang to share insights gleaned from his extensive career covering global sports events such as the FIFA World Cup and the World Athletics Championships.

During his lecture to the 120-strong class, Fentuo underscored the critical importance of sports psychology in enhancing athlete performance and addressing contemporary challenges like mental health issues, social media pressures, and racial abuse affecting athletes worldwide.

Reflecting on his experiences and the evolving landscape of sports journalism, Fentuo engaged with students in a dynamic Q&A session that spanned beyond sports, delving into career guidance and personal insights.

Describing Fentuo as "an inspiration" and commending him for setting high standards in sports journalism, the students presented him with a citation in appreciation of his impactful contributions to the field.

Fentuo, originally from Vamboi in the Upper West Region, began his career at Ultimate FM in Kumasi in 2013, later joining Citi FM in Accra where he became a prominent member of the Sports Panorama team.

He served as Sports Editor at Citi FM and hosted Scorecard on Citi TV before joining Joy FM under Multimedia Group Limited in 2022, where he currently leads the Sports Department.

The recognition from the University of Ghana underscores Fentuo's dedication and influence in shaping the discourse around sports journalism in Ghana.
