Focus on NDC, not me– Bawumia tells NPP aspirants

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on fellow aspirants to prioritise party unity and channel their energies toward holding the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) accountable.
Speaking after filing his nomination at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Thursday, August 28, Dr. Bawumia questioned the wisdom of internal attacks, urging his opponents in the primaries to demonstrate leadership by offering solutions and challenging the government, rather than targeting him.
“For the various candidates contesting the flagbearership, I ask, won’t Ghana and the NPP be better off if, instead of focusing your guns on Bawumia, you focused on holding the government accountable to show that you can lead the NPP in holding the NDC accountable?” he asked.
He cautioned against wasting the party’s energy on internal conflict. “Our true opponent is not within. Our true opponent is out there. We need unity to win,” he stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to peace and cohesion within the party, Dr. Bawumia added: “I promise you, just as you have known me to be, I won’t do anything to bring division or conflict within the party. If there were anyone to create problems within the NPP, it would not be Bawumia.”
He also outlined his vision for Ghana, with a strong focus on economic transformation. “My vision is to expand the Ghanaian economy through rich ideas that provide incentives and practical measures,” he said.
