Defender Marvin Senaya has spoken publicly for the first time about his decision to represent the Ghana national football team instead of Togo national football team, describing his call-up as a moment of immense pride.
The 23-year-old has been included in head coach Otto Addo’s squad for upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany, as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Senaya’s inclusion had sparked speculation over his international allegiance, with the player eligible to represent both Ghana and Togo. However, he has now made his intentions clear.
“I’m deeply honoured to have been chosen to represent my country,” he said. “Ghana is a soccer nation with a rich history, and I am thrilled to have been called upon to represent it.
“I’ll do so with pride, loyalty, and patriotism.”
Senaya’s decision adds further depth to Ghana’s defensive options, as the Black Stars continue to blend emerging talents with experienced players in their build-up to the next World Cup.
He is expected to join the squad in Europe ahead of the friendly matches later this month, where he could make his debut on the international stage.
